Tis the season for a new pie (or two!)

With Autumn well underway and winter (and Christmas!) fast approaching we are delighted to be launching our two delicious seasonal pies for a limited time only.

Venison & Mushroom - we love being able to use venison in our pies and this year Tom has put together another delicious recipe; slow cooked venison combined with earthy mushrooms in a creamy sauce. Yum.

Turkey, Smoked Ham Hock & Cranberry - our extremely popular 'Christmas Pie' is back and we havent changed a thing. All the delicious flavours of Christmas wrapped up in a pastry case.

Look out for them at your local deli or cafe or contact our sales team to order yours before they dissapear again in early 2017!

Great Taste Awards 2016

Great Taste, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is the acknowledged benchmark for fine food and drink. It has been described as the 'Oscars' of the food world and the 'epicurean equivalent of the Booker prize'. We have managed to pick up 2 of these fabulous Great Taste 2016 Awards for the following pies:

·         Steak & Ale – Gold 1 star

·         Mushroom & Spinach with White Truffle Oil – Gold 1 star

A brilliant result!

Festivals Season 2016 Update

Festival season is currently in full swing and it is proving to be yet another busy summer for Tom’s Pies!

Coming up we still have:

 

  • Carfest South 26 - 28th August

 

  • Ashburton Food Festival 10th September

 

  • Abergavenny Food Festival 17 - 18th September

 

  • Dartmouth Food Festival 22nd - 23rd October

 

The festivals so far this summer have been fabulous as always, with the Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink kicking it all off back in April, followed by Devon County Show in May. We saw many familiar faces who sought us out for their fill of Tom's Pies as well as lots of new customers who came back with nothing but praise. 

It was a real pleasure to trade at Radio 1's Big Weekend which was hosted at Powderham Castle in our very own Exeter at the end of May. The whole weekend was a real success and we even sold out of pies on Sunday! Thank you to Radio 1 for bringing such a great event to Devon.

The mighty Glastonbury proved once again to be a great hit. The mud really did add to the festival atmosphere but certainly didn’t dampen any spirits! 

The end of July brought our old favourite, Chagstock, and it was their 10 year anniversary this time round – how time flies! As usual it was a pleasure trading there and we ran our renowned Chagstock competition: 3 lucky punters won prizes including a chagstock hoody, a 36 pint cask of Jail Ale with 2 Jail Ale pint glasses from Dartmoor Brewery and 24 Chagstock Official pies made with Steak & Real Jail Ale.

Sidmouth Folk Festival takes over the town for just over a week and once again we teamed up with our sister company Dartmoor Kitchen to provide breakfast, lunch and dinner options in the Ham. It’s a regular of ours and it is lovely to be by the seaside and see so many familiar faces!

Our New Steak & Devon Blue Pie!

Tom’s Pies have recently launched a new, scrumptious pie: the 'Steak & Devon Blue'!

This moreish pie has succulent chunks of slow-cooked beef steak in a rich onion gravy, combined with tangy Devon Blue cheese from the heart of the West Country.

A deliciously different take on the classic steak pie - they are our Festival Special Pie and are also available in many delis, pubs, restaurants, farm shops and cafes so keep an eye out for them!
